Vigil

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A vigil was held on October 4, 2008 on the Montgomery County Courthouse steps to remember Ellen. CBS link to the event.

 

An Empty Place at the Table

Ellen has joined so many others at “An Empty Place at the Table.” This is a community education program which brings to life the people behind the domestic homicide statistics.

Fundraising Event

The first fundraiser was held on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the Radnor Hotel in Wayne, PA. Featured speakers were Wallace Brooks, Captain of the Domestic Violence Unit in Montgomery County and Dr. Sandra Levinson, a domestic violence survivor. The Friends of Ellen were an invaluable resource in putting the event together. Thank you to all who participated and donated to make this a successful event.

 

Gazebo Dedication

On September 28, 2007 the Friends of Ellen dedicated a memorial gazebo in her honor at Roberts Elementary School in Wayne, PA. Ellen had been a recognized, outstanding volunteer at the school. The gazebo is used as an outside classroom and is a tribute to Ellen and the school she loved.

Viking Fundraiser Event

On April 29, 2007, a fundraiser was held to honor Ellen. The proceeds were donated to Laurel House, the only domestic violence shelter in Montgomery County.
